Introducing our first ever collaboration with Addict Clothes Japan,

the TRI-Jacket.

Talks of this jacket started back in 2019 when I was looking for the perfect cafe leather and it could not be found. I turned to Satoshi, owner and creator of Addict Clothes with my idea and he was all for it. As you may know we carry the AD-02L Double Riders leather here in the shop and its absolutely one of my favorite jackets. I wanted to create a Cafe style leather to balance out those like myself looking for the ultimate cafe leather jacket.

I was looking for an asymmetrical zip leather with 3 main design / construction details

  • Cafe Collar
  • Horse Hide
  • D Pocket

We didn't just stop there though using the success and fit of the AD-02L we knew that fit and body was already a proven success for our customer and we started the process from there of building the TRI Jacket. We selected this because the torso is slightly of the AD-02L is longer and built more toward to the US Market.

DESIGN STORY

Each and every detail or the TRI Jacket was thoughtfully taken into consideration and selected for purpose. From the materials used, to the pocket placements, and zippers used. Each detail was selected for the best possible comfort, wear and long lasting quality.

The TRI Jacket features Addict's original recipe for their proprietary 1.3mm Full Veg Tan Horsehide leather. This is important to note as ADDICT did in fact change their Horsehide leather for 2020 production styles and we opted to stick with the original leather vs the new updated leather. Each hide is selected by Addicts skilled craftsmen, cut, pieced together, and sewn by hand giving each piece a well finished and custom look and feel. The final product is truly a work of art.

The Cafe Collar on the TRI jacket was completely designed from scratch. It is like no other cafe collar Addict currently features in their assortment and sits lower on the neck and collar bones for a true, sleek design that sits low and tight on the shoulder with adjustable two snap position. when worn open the collar frames the neck effortlessly and you have the option to snap the lapels back to the chest with the Patina brass hardware to show of the sleek modern lapels of the TRI-Jacket. I choose to utilize a smaller lapel from a more modern updated take vs going the more traditional route of large overpowering lapels that can take over the entire breast of the jacket. This design detail was also selected so that the fit can work on a number of body builds, both small and broader shoulders.

Now to talk about one of the most identifiable and coveted details of the TRI-Jacket, the D-Pocket. I wanted to create a cafe leather with a D-Pocket because i've never seen one and well, I always wanted one! Working with Satoshi we settled on a size and shape on the D-Pocket after looking at a number of leathers and flight jackets from the 40's and 50's. You'll notice on the our D-Pocket we choose to keep the pocket slightly more vertically upright in contrast to the asymmetrical zipper closure for more ease of access into the pocket. You can reach straight across your body to access the pocket without a weird entry angle. Additional top coin pocket with snap closure sits on top of the D-Pocket.

Additional pockets on the TRI Jacket are as follows.

  • Top Left Chest Slant Pocket
  • Bottom Right Hand warmer pocket
  • Internal Wearers Left Flask Pocket

Patina'd Brass Hardware (zippers and snaps)

The zippers used on the TRI Jacket are a heavy gauge Patina'd Brass zipper with closed ball chain loop pull for easy access and use. I selected the ball chain loop pulls on pocket for those of you using this jacket as a rider. You will not have to remove your gloves to open / access storage and the main body asymmetrical zipper pull is chunky for easy functionality. Again pulling inspiration for hardware and  looking back at leathers of the 40's and 50's. I selected a patina'd brass zip hardware as a nod to the past and craftsmanship of yesteryear that Addict specializes in. Not only will this jacket last a lifetime it will age and beautifully with each day, month, year, and decade.

INTERNALS

The TRI Jacket features the signature rich burgundy diamond quilted Addict body lining that is constructed with a low profile fill to the body providing additional wind blockage. Sleeves are constructed with a heavy duty fatigue green poly satin sleeve lining make this a great feel to the skin if worn with just a Tee under or a smooth on and off process when layered up.

Other Design Elements

A Western back yolk was selected as a signature to the back of this jacket. There is so much going on to the front of the TRI a western yolk detail was more the warranted to set the clean yet simple back of this leather apart. Putting a straight seam yolk would have been a sin.

Curved Bottom Hem - The back of the TRI features a curved hem, again another tastefully selected modern design element to give this jacket a bit more modern fit and flare, as well as coverage. The Back sits about 2cm's lower then the front.

Sleeve Zips - For a cleaner look I opted to rotate the sleeve zipper to the bottom of the sleeve for a more clean and modern look and feel. On traditional cafe / riding leathers the sleeve zip would ALWAYS be placed on the top of the sleeve so that way you can adjust the sleeve opening while riding. I opted to go for a more visually cleaner esthetic and rotated the sleeve zipper. Each sleeve has an expanding attached zippered gusset for a fully closed sleeve opening.

** New for FALL 2022) 2-WAY Front Zipper Closure **

The 2-way Zip was a design element always intended for the TRI Jacket but due to ordering restraints we were unable to provide this detail on the original Prototype style. Now for the first time ever the TRI Jacket will feature the Addict branded front zipper in a 2 way brass zip. Providing even more comfort and wearability to what we believe was already a perfect leather.

FIT

The Fit of the AD-BS01 or TRI Jacket is a tailored fit and is sized as True to Size. It features a tailored body and sleeve for a true close to body fit as a cafe should be. It it meant to be worn snug and the collar to sit snug to the neck with 1 to 2 fingers of gap for movement and breathing room. Sleeve opening is also designed to sit snug against the wrist for a slim fit and is adjustable thanks to the gusset zippered sleeve.
